Large-scale residential buildings are a defining feature of almost every major Eastern European city. Monumental masses of concrete continue to dominate the urban landscape, dividing citizens regarding their crude aesthetics. I’ve been capturing late-modernist residential buildings across Poland for three years, fascinated by their scale and crudeness. Whether architectural gems or aesthetic aberrations, they are certainly inspiring in their uncompromising appearance.
Photos were taken in five cities in Poland: Gdańsk, Warsaw, Łódź, Wrocław, and Katowice.
